Top Lockheed Martin Aviation Parts and Accessories for Sale

Lockheed is one of the most storied aerospace and aviation success stories in America, producing some of the most iconic warfighting aircraft of all time. The P-38 Lightning, the F-117, the F-16 Viper, the C-5, and of course, the C-130 Hercules. And this list doesn’t even mention Skunk Works!

Some of these aircraft are long gone down the annals of history, while others on this list soldier on. But take a look at the ones that are still in service: the F-16 is now fifty years old having first flown in 1974. Everyone thinks about the B-52 and KC-135 when they think of aging aircraft in the fleet, but the stalwart C-130 is often left out of this discussion, yet it is a contemporary of both having first flown in 1954! The C-5 is also old, first flown in 1965. Here’s how their parts process works, who makes them, and how these old jets keep flying.

Lockheed Martin Aviation Parts Overview

Aviation parts are the lifeblood of all aviation operations. New aircraft need reliable supply chains of parts for their aircraft, but this is especially important for aircraft that are five, six, or even seven decades old.

Thankfully, many of the parts on these aircraft are universal across the entire production of aircraft so a new production aircraft can still use parts from one sent to the boneyards years ago. This isn’t true for all parts, but it is for a good number of them. This allows for a much broader support base and overall global inventory.

Lockheed-Martin’s aircraft are used widely across the world by dozens of Air Forces, so there is a certain level of global competition for parts, particularly for the C-130 and the F-16.  The best way to procure them is by partnering with Greenwood Aerospace.

Greenwood Aerospace is registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) which allows us to be identified by contracting officers as eligible to receive HUBZone contracts. We are also U.S. Department of State ITAR-registered, allowing us to partner with large defense contractors on various military initiatives for exporting ITAR controlled items.

What is Lockheed known for?

Back to Lockheed-Martin. In the modern era, they are best known for the F-16 Viper, which serves or has served in at least 25 air forces across the world. The Viper continues to be the premier aircraft for what it was designed to do: be a lightweight, incredibly agile fighter that is also relatively low-cost.

Just as well known is the cargo aircraft C-130, with a most iconic fuselage and universally revered combat capabilities. The Herc provides support for troops in the field, medical and disaster relief missions. ISR missions, and even hurricane research. It is truly a Jack of all trades in the aviation community.

Are C-130s still being built?

Yes, Hercs are still being built! The C-130 has been in continuous production for over seventy years now and is the longer continuously produced military aircraft ever. This is a key distinction between the Herc and the B-52 and KC-135: those airframes have been out of production since 1964. The Herc soldiers on with new aircraft still coming off the assembly line, which means that they are still producing OEM aviation parts for the Herc.

Can a C-130 carry a tank?

This gets asked a lot, and the answer is yes: the Herc was designed to carry tanks. Specifically, the Sheridan tank. Ironically, the Herc has lasted a lot longer than the lightweight Sheridan, which left service in the late 1990s. Meanwhile, the Herc flies on.

Who makes parts for Lockheed Martin?

Lockheed-Martin manufactures their own parts and much of the global supply is from them. But they have also subcontracted out supply of parts to third parties. However, these are closely controlled and certified by Lockheed-Martin to make sure the same level of quality is always kept.

One great example is Derco Aerospace, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary that supplies OEM parts, services, and solutions for Lockheed Martin aircraft, equipment, platforms, and systems. Derco works with approved manufacturers to provide quality parts at competitive prices.

Every airframe has a program office that controls these types of partnerships and agreements, so when you procure parts and products for Lockheed-Martin aircraft, make sure the orders are either OEM, or are certified replacements.
