Derived from the C-12 Huron, the MC-12 Liberty is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It is based on the Hawker Beechcraft Super King Air and has various sensors and communication equipment to support its mission. The MC-12 has been used extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been credited with providing critical intelligence to ground forces. Unlike the “slick” C-12/UC-12 Hurons, which are King Air 200s, the MC-12 uses the stretched and up-engined King Air 350 as a base model.
